Natalka Bilotserkivets

The novel is styled as a traditional 18th century Bildungsroman that represents psychological, moral and social shaping of the main protagonist Mykola K. His life is recollected by different women who happened to meet and, in some cases, marry him. Yet, at a deeper level, it ushers readers to a broader picture of Ukrainian (Soviet and post-Soviet) life in the last decades of the 20th and first decades of the 21st century, with all its bitter ambiguity, agony, and charm.
