Welcome to the VUIAS at ias ceu

Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study was founded in 2023 by the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin in cooperation with partner institutions from the US, Europe and Ukraine. Its purpose is to support scholars in Ukraine and Ukrainian scholars who had to leave the country during the Russian invasion.

The goals of the newly founded institution are manifold: VUIAS will mobilize support for scholarships under conditions of war and contribute to rebuilding Ukrainian academia once the war is over. By connecting Ukrainian scholars in and outside Ukraine, VUIAS will more strongly integrate Ukrainian scholars into the international academic landscape and broaden and deepen knowledge on Ukraine within global academia.

The Institute for Advanced Study at Central European University supported by the Open Society University Network’s Threatened Scholars Integration Initiative propudly welcomes its new VUIAS Fellows in Academic Year 2023-2024.
