CAT research group "Socio-ecological Reshaping of European Cities and Metropolitan Areas" is hosted by IAS CEU, June 19-25

IAS CEU is delighted to host the CAT research group "Socio-ecological reshaping of European Cities and Metropolitan Areas" between June 19-25, 2023.

The project, shortly called "Reshape Cities" is one of the three CAT research initiatives that have been selected during the year 2020 by the NETIAS. The team is preparing for its 4th research stay at IAS CEU, after being hosted by the Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (Montpellier), Scienza Nuova (Torino) and Paris Institute for Advanced Study (Paris) in the previous two years.

The aim of the 'Reshape Cities' project is to analyse the socio-economic potential of using green infrastructure in urban and metropolitan restructuring and to improve sustainability and quality of life in cities. To tackle major and complex challenges European cities are facing, such as environmental problems (air and water quality, biodiversity loss, advancing climate change), socio-economic issues (social cohesion and justice) or the transition to sustainable mobility systems, the collaboration combines knowledge from civil engineering, geography, architecture, landscape architecture and social sciences.

The research group includes Prof. Rieke Hansen (Geisenheim University, Germany), Andrea Nóblega Carriquiry (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Joanna Guerrin (INRAE, France), Manuel Beißler (Leibniz University Hannover, Germany) and is led by Principal Investigator Prof. Maria Manso (Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal).

The researchers are presenting their project on June 22 which is open to the public and will be livestreamed as well.
