Vinni Lucherini
The main objective of the present project is to examine the adjective “Angevin” and its derivatives as a long-standing historiographical category whose origins have been effaced from historical consciousness. To achieve this, the medieval use of the adjective will be compared with its revival in early modern France and its nineteenth-century use in a nationalistic context, especially its widespread popularisation in the twenty years following the Treaty of Trianon. Following a preliminary investigation into its use from the 17th to 19th centuries (not yet published), the present study will focus particularly on the fascist period through archival charters and other documentary evidence, including private and public correspondence, photographs, movies, etc.
