Project Title:
Hungarian Cultural Houses between Political Programme and Cultural Appropriation
Project Abstract:
For the forthcoming CEU Artist-in-Residence programme my visual arts proposal is the production of an experimental ethnographic documentary on the present status of cultural houses and community cultural clubs in Hungary.
The proposed film would constitute part of my current practice-based research on cultural houses in the Eastern Bloc; an historical and anthropological comparative analysis of the diverse and conflicting ways in which these centres currently operate through focusing on internal micro-processes and community usage.
