Project Title:
Phenomenal Intentionality
Project Abstract:
I would spend a semester in the philosophy department at the Central European University, Budapest, as a researcher and teacher in philosophy of mind. My focus would be the emerging "phenomenal intentionality research program," which seeks a purely experiential understanding of the representational capacities of the mind (thought, perception), and is thus opposed to current philosophical orthodoxy. My work on the experience of conscious thought has been influential in founding this movement. I would continue my own research within this program. I would also teach a graduate seminar to introduce students to the background, issues and relevance of this new program and to bring them up to date on the latest work.
