DecoLab

The CEU IAS Decolonial Lab (DecoLab) brings together scholars from Eastern Europe and across Eurasia in an open dialogue dedicated to questions of postwar coexistence, collaboration, and healing. Engaging with debates on decolonization, politics of knowledge, and post-conflict reconciliation, participants seek to develop new understandings of the historical and contemporary entanglements shaping the post-Soviet space.

The Lab focuses on reimagining intellectual exchange beyond the post-imperial frame through the development of research projects, writing practices, curricula, and teaching models that move away from Russo-centric approaches to Russian and Soviet studies. More broadly, DecoLab aims to address the epistemic and institutional asymmetries structuring the field, while fostering forms of academic and civic collaboration grounded in non-hierarchical exchange and critical reflection.

DecoLab accommodates both residential fellows pursuing individual research projects in situ and shorter-term visiting scholars contributing new perspectives to ongoing conversations. Workshops and public discussions with invited guest speakers complement the Lab’s core activities.
