Global IAS now receiving applications
IAS CEU, in cooperation with the Open Society University Network, is proud to launch the Global Institute for Advanced Study, a new initiative designed to help early-career scholars in their quest of academic excellence, building bridges between the accomplishments of scientific research, the challenges pressing communities across the globe, and the educational needs of younger generations.
GIAS will be hosted by IAS on CEU's Budapest campus. GIAS’s ambition is rooted in the values ofto contribute to the free and independent pursuit of scholarly research in the context of an interdisciplinary intellectual community, while embedding this community in a long-lasting network with deep partnerships among diverse institutions committed to addressing global challenges collaboratively.
GIAS offers 2-year fellowships that allow extended access to GIAS resources, residence at GIAS in Budapest (Hungary) for 10 months, support for field research, writing, and public engagement. The fellowships will be offered, as a priority, to the teaching faculty, research staff, and advanced PhD students of OSUN member institutions.
GIAS is currently in its pilot phase. Fellowships for the period starting in September 2021 will be offered to applicants from the following OSUN partner institutions only:
- Al-Quds University / Al-Quds Bard College of Arts and Sciences (Palestine)
- American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan)
- Ashesi University (Ghana)
- BRAC University (Bangladesh)
- European Humanities University (Lithuania)
- Universidad de los Andes (Colombia)
